Head, Energy Planning Department, City Government of Vienna, Austria

Bernd Vogl has led Municipal Department 20–Energy Planning for the City of Vienna since 2011. The main task of the Department is the management and coordination of Viennese energy programmes, and strategic work with a focus on the decarbonisation of cities. In addition, he worked as a member of the supervisory board for the municipal energy supplier until 2016. Previously he worked as an energy expert in the Austrian Ministry of Environment, from 2004 to 2011 leading the Austrian climate protection initiative “klima:aktiv”. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from HTL, and in business economics from Vienna University.
