Director, IRENA Innovation and Technology Centre, Bonn

Dolf Gielen has been Director of the IRENA Innovation and Technology Centre in Bonn since the beginning of 2011. The Centre advises member countries in the areas of technology status and roadmaps, energy planning, cost and markets, and innovation policy frameworks. Previously he was Chief of the Energy Efficiency and Policy unit at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Vienna, and Senior Energy Analyst in the Energy Technology Policy division of the International Energy Agency, Paris. Mr. Gielen holds a PhD in Energy and Materials Modelling from the Technical University of Delft and an MA in Environmental Sciences from the University of Utrecht, Netherlands.
