Head, EU Representation Office of VERBUND AG
Walburga Hemetsberger has headed the VERBUND Representation Office in Brussels since 2009. VERBUND is Austria’s leading electricity company and one of the biggest hydropower producers in Europe. Mrs. Hemetsberger has worked in Brussels for more than 16 years in various positions. She was an Advisor for financial markets and capital markets regulation at the German as well as the European Association of Public Banks (VÖB / EAPB). Prior to that she worked as a competition lawyer for the Law Firm Haarmann Hemmelrath, and has also held positions at the European Parliament (Assistant to Austrian Member of Parliament) and the European Commission (Internship at DG Competition, Merger Control Task Force). Walburga studied Law and Business Administration (Innsbruck / Austria and Strasbourg /France).
